- Microsoft Works Word Processor is a proprietory file of a word processor component of the Microsoft Works office suite. The format is a predecessor of Microsoft Office .doc file format. It support rich text, tables, and images, but lacks some of the more advanced formatting features supported with .doc file format. Microsoft Works is now discontinued productivity software suite developed by Microsoft and sold from 1987 to 2009.
