- File created every time a user sets up a session in Pro Tools, music creation software made by Avid, which allows the user to create, record and mix music. Every time a session is started, a ptx file is created, containing all plug ins, audio and midi tracks and mixer settings. They do not contain actual audio, but have audio files linked to them.
