- ACE is a compressed archive format, originally developed by Marcel Lemke and later by e-merge GmbH. Some relevant software includes Ace (for DOS, OS/2 and Windows console, WinAce, Active ACE and ACE Compression. Version 2 of ACE introduced new compression schemes that are not supported by all ACE compression software.
