It was initially released in 1990 by Asymetrix Corporation, notably founded by Paul Allen, later merging with SumTotal Systems. ToolBook uses a book metaphor - a project file is thought of as a book containing pages of content. This is very similar to Microsoft PowerPoint\u2019s use of the metaphor where presentations contain various slides. This entry records the .tbk file format described as ToolBook Books and .sbk format which are System Books containing scripts. There were several versions of this software released, with version 11.5 as the final version of ToolBook, released in December 2012.
